Commercial Pilot License.

Course Overview

Looking to take your Private Pilot License (PPL) to the next step? Why not start your career in commercial aviation with the team at U-FLY Wanaka. U-FLY offers trainee pilots the comprehensive training required to achieve your commercial qualification. This qualification will allow you to work as a commercial pilot within New Zealand and around the world. Our team of instructors will guide you through all stages of the Commercial Pilot License theoretical and practical training. You will be required to complete 200 hours of flying experience, any hours completed during your PPL will qualify towards the CPL requirements.

Course Content.

Practical Training

A minimum of 200 hours flight time. Included in this flight time will be:

  • At least 100 hours flying solo under the supervision of an instructor on the ground
  • At least 30 hours of cross country navigation.
  • At least 10 hours of simulated instrument flying

  • Principle of Flight (CPL)
  • Aviation Law (CPL)
  • Meteorology (CPL)
  • Aircraft Technical Knowledge (CPL)
  • Navigation (CPL)
  • Human Factors (CPL)
Entry Requirements

To fly you must:

  • Be at least age of 17
  • Hold a Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
  • IELTS score of 5.5 or above, with band score no less than 5.0
Qualification Requirements

To qualify for a CPL you must :

  • Be at least 18 of age
  • Gain a minimum of 200 flying hours
  • Pass the six theory subjects that are part of the course curriculum
  • Pass the CPL Flight Test at the conclusion of your training
  • Pass the CPL Navigation Flight Test at the conclusion of your training
